Egremont House, Wakefield

The project will transform the former Georgian home and Coroner’s Court into a creative hub offering affordable studios, workshops and collaboration space for young entrepreneurs and emerging artists.

The scheme reorganises the internal layout to accommodate multiple studio units while improving accessibility, upgrading building services and carrying out essential repairs to enhance sustainability. Key heritage features will be carefully preserved.

Commissioned by Rushbond, the project forms part of the wider Wakefield Fringe Masterplan. It is intended as a complementary partner to the nearby Wakefield Crown Court redevelopment, also designed by Group Ginger.

Together with neighbours including CAPA College, Wakefield College and The Art House, the proposals strengthen the city’s emerging arts and education quarter while creating new opportunities for local creatives and small businesses.
