Planning permission for Wakefield Crown Court
Group Ginger’s architectural concept centres on character and distinction, channelling the colourful and chequered history of the different rooms within the former courthouse as a departure point for the design.
The faded grandeur of the historic courtroom is reimagined as a modern village hall which will host events, performances, and exhibitions, serving as the social and cultural heart of the site.
The building’s more modest secondary courtroom is reinvented as a food hall, creating a contemporary hospitality offer. The historic offices - redolent of industrious court clerks of yesteryear beavering away - are reworked into flexible workspace with studios and co-working space for creatives and small businesses.
